| Problem |
| I've never had any kind of problem with my laptop before this, not even "freezing up". I noticed three problems, all of which seem to be related to each other.
First, I have trouble turning my laptop on. When I press the power button, the power light, num lock light, all-caps light turn on, and I can hear the computer trying to turn on. The screen never turns on. After 3 seconds or so, the laptop just turns off.
Second, occasionally the laptop will turn on and boot, and I can get to Windows. However, after a very short period of usage, the laptop freezes, but different from the typical freezing. No button or command works, no ctrl+alt+del doesn't work, mouse doesn't work, closing the lid doesn't make the screen go away. The only solution is for me to use the power button to force it to turn off. This is how it first stopped working. I was using my laptop and it suddenly froze as I described. So I forced it to turn off, and ever since, I'm having problems 1 and 2.
Third, often I get dell.com error message:
"You have inserted a module into the D-Bay attached to your docking station, but this module is not supported by the D-Bay. The module will not be functional if left in place. You should remove it now." |

| Randomly locks up, if computer is moved just a bit it locks up solid. Tried different operating systems so its hardware related. Removed ram chips and re-inserted them and still has problem. ACP errors, Random code errors and bios cannot remember information. WHen computer is able to boot up it randomly locks solid and requires main battery removal to un-freeze it. Computer is in excellent condition besides the lockup troubles. The computer is upstairs so I cannot get the serial number at this time due to a broken leg and its hard to move around. Just wondering; educated guess to fix it. |
